Kilmarnock Energy Centre Limited have submitted an application for a 500MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at land to the north of Kilmarnock South substation, Kilmarnock under Section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989.

THE ELECTRICITY WORKS (ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT) (SCOTLAND) REGULATIONS 2017

As directed by regulation 23(4) of the Electricity Works (Environmental Impact Assessment) (Scotland) 2017, notice is hereby given that Kilmarnock Energy Centre Limited (“the Company”) company incorporated under the Companies Act with company number SC766862 and having its registered office at 13 Queen's Road, Aberdeen, AB15 4YL, has been granted consent by Scottish Ministers to construct and operate AN ELECTRICITY GENERATING STATION COMPRISING OF A BATTERY ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM including battery-based electricity storage containers, associated power control infrastructure and ancillary development known as KILMARNOCK 500 MW BATTERY ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM, in lands at approximately 250 metres to the north of Kilmarnock South substation and approximately 2 km south-east of the town of Kilmarnock, National Grid Reference (NGR) NS 45023 34590, in the relevant Planning Authority area of East Ayrshire Council.

Scottish Ministers have also directed, under Section 57 (2) of the Town & Country Planning Act (Scotland) 1997, that planning permission is deemed to be granted.
